Hi friends,
Some of you have been here since the very beginning — nearly two years ago when I launched this Substack — and you never received a proper welcome letter. Substack was still new, I was still finding my footing, and I threw myself into writing without much setup. So today, I want to officially welcome you and reintroduce this space.
I’m renaming the newsletter Permission Slip.
The name is a call back to school days when a little signed slip could buy you some freedom. That’s what I think these letters have always really been about: freedom. Permission. A quiet note. A space to think freely and write honestly.
This is my space to pull at threads — to write past the fear of being seen. These letters usually take the shape of my journal entries, rambling musings and essays. They hold thoughts on beauty and money, motherhood and identity, longing and unraveling and becoming. It’s a little of everything. What I’m learning and living as I go.
You can expect a letter about once a month — something honest and hopefully resonant.
And I love that the initials are P.S.
Postscript.
Like an afterthought from the corners of my mind — from me to you.
About Paid Subscriptions
While Permission Slip will remain free, I’m officially turning on the paid subscription option, and offering a lower price for those of you who’ve so generously supported this work financially in the past.
If these letters have moved you, or made you feel more seen, and you’d like to support this writing, here’s how:
$5/month (about the cost of a coffee)
$50/year (a little discount for those who prefer to subscribe annually)
$100/year (Founding Member) — for those who want to support in a bigger way, and help this space grow
What you’ll receive as a paid subscriber:
Monthly letters (as always)
Occasional bonus essays
First access to new offerings & creative endeavors
And mostly — the joy of knowing you’re helping sustain this creative work
If you’ve already signed up for a paid subscription — I see you, and I’m deeply grateful. Thank you for your generosity and trust.
Thanks for being here. For reading. For making space in your inbox and in your life.
With love,
Hannah
